SENSES Success Journey Through the PINTU Incubator Program

Highlight

Senses' journey through the PINTU Incubator Program exemplifies how a fashion incubator can empower emerging brands to thrive on the global stage while honoring cultural heritage. By blending Indonesian folklore with contemporary design, Senses has captured international interest, especially through its standout "GALA Part 01" collection inspired by Javanese legend. With guidance and exposure from the PINTU Incubator, Senses successfully showcased at the 2024 Paris Trade Show, attracting potential buyers from around the world and setting a strong foundation for future growth.

Building an internationally recognized fashion brand is no easy feat, especially when balancing cultural heritage with contemporary style. However, Senses, a brand founded by Kanya Pradipta Sarashvati, has found its stride with help from the PINTU Incubator Program. This program has played a key role in guiding Senses toward the international stage, culminating in a successful showcase at the prestigious Première Classe during the 2024 Paris Trade Show.

Senses stands out for its commitment to Indonesian culture, weaving traditional patterns and folklore into modern designs. The brand’s latest collection, "GALA Part 01," draws inspiration from the Javanese legend of Roro Jonggrang, bringing an ancient story to life through fashion. The name "GALA," meaning "Howl" in Javanese, is reflected in the ethereal fabric, color palette, and intricate detailing. Featuring shades of white and yellow, each piece evokes the essence of Central Java’s landscape with elements inspired by local spices, flora, and fauna.

For Kanya, joining the PINTU Incubator was a transformative experience. "PINTU has been a great learning curve for Senses and a highlight for our 2024 calendar!" she shared enthusiastically. "We’ve gained exposure to international markets, insights from experts, and expanded our network significantly." PINTU provided Senses with the strategic tools necessary to position itself as a brand that celebrates Indonesian craftsmanship in a way that appeals to the global market.

The highlight of Senses' journey in the program was the chance to participate in Première Classe, an event that attracts elite buyers and fashion influencers from around the world. For Kanya, the opportunity to meet and connect with potential buyers was invaluable. "Meeting new potential buyers from countries I hadn't reached before was incredible," she reflected. She was particularly moved by the moment she realized a brand she personally admired was exhibiting there as well, adding a sense of accomplishment and validation to her journey.

At the Paris show, Senses garnered significant interest from a range of international buyers. "We met several potential buyers and online retailers. About 5-6 were quite serious, coming from Milan, St. Tropez, Paris, Japan, and Korea," Kanya said. These connections are set to propel Senses further into the global fashion scene, as the brand plans to follow up with each potential buyer. "I’ll be following up with the buyers I met in Paris, and hopefully, I can return to the Paris Trade Show next year," Kanya expressed.

The PINTU Incubator Program has not only helped Senses establish a foothold internationally but also allowed the brand to maintain its roots. As Senses expands globally, it remains committed to honoring Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. Through the PINTU Incubator, Kanya and her team have refined their brand’s identity and gained the confidence to present their unique vision to the world.

Senses' story exemplifies the impact of fashion incubators like PINTU. By supporting young brands with resources, mentorship, and global exposure, incubators empower fashion talents to bridge cultural divides and make their mark internationally. With Senses’ continued growth and dedication to showcasing Indonesian artistry, the brand has set a new standard for how local heritage can captivate audiences worldwide.
