Shaping Creative Futures Through a Strategic Indonesia–France Program

Highlight

PINTU Incubator held a press conference on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Media Lounge, Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading. The event marked a significant milestone in the four-year journey of the fashion incubation program, which has grown into a strategic bilateral between Indonesia and France. With a focus on reflecting on its accomplishments over the past three years and introducing its newest initiative, the Residency Program, PINTU reaffirmed its position as a visionary driver of meaningful cultural collaboration.

Launched in 2022 by JF3 and LAKON Indonesia in collaboration with the French Embassy through IFI, PINTU Incubator has become a nurturing ground for emerging designers from both countries. To date, the program has reached over 10,000 brands, selected 51 participants for incubation, and engaged 86 expert mentors, including 33 from France. These achievements were further solidified by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PINTU and École Duperré Paris—one of France’s leading fashion schools—witnessed by French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, last May.

“We believe the partnership between Indonesia and France within the PINTU Incubator framework lays an important foundation for building a more inclusive and collaborative future for the fashion industry,” said Soegianto Nagaria, Chairman of JF3. He described PINTU as a tangible step in JF3’s commitment to nurturing a strong, sustainable, and globally connected fashion ecosystem.

Thresia Mareta, Co-initiator of PINTU Incubator and Founder of LAKON Indonesia, emphasized the importance of sustaining such collaborations. She expressed her pride when President Emmanuel Macron mentioned the PINTU program in his speech at Borobudur Temple, describing it as a powerful symbol of cross-cultural cooperation. “President Macron’s statement is a reminder that what we are building today carries significant meaning in the context of global cultural diplomacy,” she noted.

A key highlight of the press conference was the launch of the Residency Program, which welcomes two young French designers—Kozue Sullerot and Priscille Berthaud—for a three-month creative stay in Indonesia. They will immerse themselves in traditional techniques such as batik in Java and handwoven textiles in the eastern regions, culminating in a collaborative collection to be showcased at LAKON Store and the prestigious Premiere Classe Paris. “Through the Residency Program, we aim to create a creative dialogue between young designers from Indonesia and France, expanding their perspectives on cultural uniqueness and design processes,” Thresia added.

The press conference was also attended by Ms. Charlotte Esnou, Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy in Indonesia, who expressed her appreciation for the continued cultural partnership nurtured through the PINTU Incubator. Her presence reinforced the shared commitment to fostering cross-cultural creative exchange.

Four years is more than just a mark of time—it is a testament to consistency and dedication. PINTU Incubator is more than a program; it is a meeting point of cultures, generations, and visions, advancing the spirit of Indonesian fashion toward a future that is inclusive and globally resonant.
